Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch, the artist has depicted an archer with an aim. The stiff posture of the archer in action is executed with linear, fluid pencil strokes delineating the basic contours of the body and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
