    Nandalal Bose

Sketch from Sketch Book No.24 11139 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. The above sketch by the artist, is a perceptible representation of a sculpture of a female warrior, depicted with a bow and arrow, from Khandgiri caves as suggested in the inscription. The robust form of the warrior is delineated with bold, fluid pencil strokes, articulating the masculine body and suggesting the demaenour of the subject.
