Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above study sketch the artist has delineated a war wagon, pulled by a horse in movement. The energetic composition is executed with linear, continuous pencil strokes. The lines are firm yet fluid, articulating the basic contours of the forms and adding dynamism to the composition.
