Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. The above composition by the artist is a perceptible representation of a war wagon, driven by a rider and pulled by a horse. The illustration is rendered with linear, firm yet fluid pencil strokes articulating the contours, suggesting the demeanour of the subject, sparing much detail.
