Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In the above sketch the artist has depicted a man's face, rendered with linear, continuous pencil strokes. The lines are firm yet fluid articulating the basic contours of the face with facial features and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
