Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. A study sketch by the artist, depicting warriors carrying bows and arrows, is rendered with firm, linear pencil strokes. The continuous lines are articulating the contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
