Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papres mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. The above sketch by the artist depicts a woman in an attacking position with a sword and a shield. The composition is infused with movement, rendered in linear, continuous pencil strokes, defining the contours, the detail and the demeanour of the subject.
