Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. The above sketch by the artist depicts a mahapurush suggested by long earlobes as per the Indian scriptures. The figure is rendered with thick, continuous pencil strokes delineating the basic contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subject, sparring much detail.
