Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. In the above sketch the artist depicted a bejeweled man sitting on a platform with his head tilted on his left. The composition is rendered with linear, continuous pencil strokes articulating the basic contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
