Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. In the above study sketch the artist has depicted two human figures probably in dancing posture, rendered with continuous, linear pencil strokes. The lines are fluid yet firm articulating the basic contours, sparing much detail and invigorating rhythm in the composition.
