Nandalal is known to have fervently sketched on postcard sized papers mostly using ink and brush, recording his surroundings. In the above sketch the artist has depicted a man sitting on stairs, adorned with jewelry, wearing a conical crown. The figure is rendered with linear, continuous pencil strokes articulating the basic contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subject.
