Sketch from Sketch Book No.24 11182 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. The above sketch is a perceptible representation of Gautam Buddha surrounded with his attendants, seated in a bhumisparsh mudra, preferably in a stylised veranda. The figures are rendered with linear, continuous pencil strokes delineating the basic contours and suggesting the demeanour of the subjects.
