In this sketch, Nandalal renders an anatomical line drawing of Pulakesi, a monarch of the Chalukya dynasty in the 6th century A.D. He has also rendered another sketch of a chauri-bearer alongside. As the inscriptions suggest, the images have been reproduced from part of a mural from the Ajanta caves.
