In this anatomical drawing, Nandalal has studied the posture of a male warrior figure, as he holds a sword in one hand and a shield in the other. Rendered in rough, bold lines, the sketch is intended to analyse movement and mobility of the human body. As the inscription suggests, the image has been reproduced from part of a mural in cave no. 17 of the Ajanta caves.
