Nandalal has here sketched a male attendant holding an earthen pot, rendered in quick flowing lines, part of the mural that depicts the Mahajanaka-Jataka, from cave no.1 of the Ajanta caves. The mural shows two attendants pouring holy water from decorated pitchers over prince Mahajanaka, during a ceremonial bath before his coronation.
