Nandalal has here sketched a female attendant holding a plate, rendered in brisk, short strokes, part of the mural that depicts the Mahajanaka-Jataka, from cave no. 1 of the Ajanta caves. The mural shows two male attendants pouring holy water from decorated pitchers over prince Mahajanaka, during a ceremonial bath before his coronation, while three maids wait in attendance.
