Nandalal has here depicted the Buddha in a pencil drawing, seated in the padmasana (lotus pose) on a lotus pedestal in Dharmachakra ( the wheel of law ) mudra. Reproduced from  cave no. 1 of the Ajanta caves, the sketch is rendered in fine, fluid lines, defining the meditative, calm posture of the enlightened one.
