Nandalal has here studied the the posture of a female figure, a simple line drawing spared of much detail. The sketch has been reproduced from part of the mural that depicts the 'Champeyya Jataka' in cave no.1 of the Ajanta caves. The mural depicts a court scene where King Champeyya is initiating Ugrasena, the king of Varanasi, into the mysteries of faith, as others around listen with attention, the figure being one of them.
