Nandalal has here studied the stance of a female figure with a profusely ornamented hairdo. Probably a royal figure, the image has been reproduced from part of a mural from cave no. 1 of the Ajanta caves. Rendered in a fine linear fluency, the sketch exemplifies the artist's mastery over lines and rhythms as he brings out a certain delicacy and grace in the slender feminine form.
