Sketch from Sketch Book No.22 - Ajanta Sketches 10979 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
Nandalal has here studied the posture of a female figure, seated on a cushion (not shown here). The sketch is rendered in bold, fluid outlines, defining the contours of the form. As per the inscription, the drawing has been reproduced from part of an unidentified mural from cave no.1 of the Ajanta caves, depicting a queen conversing with a king, while they are surrounded by a retinue of palace attendants.
