Nandalal has here studied the posture of a Brahman squatting on the floor in contemplation, hearing Maya's dream, etched in crisp strokes adding life to the robust form. The drawing has been sketched from the mural, the birth of Buddha from cave no. 2 of the Ajanta caves, which depicts two scenes, the interpretations of Maya's dreams by the Brahmans and the birth of Buddha in Lumbini gardens.
