Nandalal has here studied the posture of a man with a prominent, twirled moustache, leaning on a staff. Probably a royal guard, the figure has been rendered in a succession of bold and fluid lines, reproduced from part of the panel, 'Votaries bringing offerings', from cave no. 2 of the Ajanta caves. This mural depicts votaries of various ethnicities assembled together, with offerings for the boddhisattva padmapani.
