Nandalal here studies the posture of a seated royal figure, simply rendered in bold flowing lines, defining the contours of the body, sketched from the panel 'Votaries bringing offerings to the Bodhisattva', from cave no. 2 of the Ajanta caves. This particular part of the mural depicts Bodhisattva Padmapani, identified by the lotus flower in his right hand, being approached by a group of devotees with offerings.
