Nandalal has here studied the stance of the hunter 'Sonuttara', reproduced from the mural that depicts the 'Shad-Danta Jataka' from cave no. 10 of the Ajanta caves. This is part of the scene where Sonuttara has been ordered by Queen Subhadda to bring her the tusks of the royal elephant. The artist has quickly rendered the hunter's figure in short, brisk strokes.
