Nandalal has here sketched a male figure, sitting cross-legged on the floor. The subject is depicted with long curly hair extending to his shoulders, embellished with a feather or a ribbon. Rendered in blunt pencil strokes, the bold flowing outlines define the contours of the body. As the inscription suggests, this sketch has been reproduced from part of a mural from cave no. 16 of the Ajanta caves.
