    Nandalal Bose

Sketch from Sketch Book No.22 - Ajanta Sketches 11037 Nandalal Bose Pencil on paper

×
In this sketch, Nandalal has executed a posture study of a boy from part of the mural that depicts the early life of the Buddha from cave no.16 of the Ajanta caves. The boy here has bent his right leg and stretched the other, while his hands are in a gesture suggestive of drawing a bow. However, the sketch is spared of such details and is reduced to a simple line drawing rendered in linear, fluid pencil strokes.
