This sketch by Nandalal is a posture study of a female figure, probably Queen Maya. The figure reclines on a couch, resting her head on a bolster pillow. Nandalal has here exhibited a graceful undulation of the feminine form, rendering the contours with a certain delicacy in brisk, curvilinear strokes. As the inscription suggests, the drawing has been reproduced from part of a mural from cave no. 16 of the Ajanta caves.
