Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. The above sketch by the artist depicts a male figure from behind sitting firmly on the floor while holding a portion of his clothing. There is also a sketch of a head adorned with a crown. The illustration is rendered with linear, firm yet fluid pencil strokes articulating the contours of the forms and suggesting their demeanour.
