In this sketch, Nandalal has executed a posture study of a male figure reproduced from part of a mural in cave no. 17 of the Ajanta caves. The figure appears to be preaching as his right hand forms a mudra while the other hand rests on his lap. The sketch is rendered with brisk strokes and firm outlining brings out the contours of the figure.
