In this detailed anatomical sketch, Nandalal depicts the skeletal structure of the human hand. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact and hence engaged with such minute attention to the form. He has here studied the contours of the joints and bones in the hand to lend authenticity to his figurative renditions.
