This detailed anatomical sketch by Nandalal depicts the skeletal structure of the human rib-cage, sternum (breast bone) and pelvis clearly labelled with each of its parts. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact, thus paying minute attention to the form. He has here studied the human skeleton from the front to enrich his skills in figurative renditions.
