In this first sketch of a series of three sketches of the human skeleton in this album, Nandalal depicts the skeleton in its entirety in frontal profile. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact and hence engaged with such minute attention to the form. He has here studied the human anatomy in detail to lend authenticity to his figurative renditions.
