In this third sketch of a series of six studies of the human skull in the album, Nandalal depicts the skeletal structure of the skull from the side, labelled with each of its parts. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact and hence engaged with such minute attention to the form. He has here studied the structure of the human head to enrich his skills in figurative renditions.
