These detailed anatomical sketches by Nandalal depict the skeletal and muscular structures of the human shoulder, clearly labelled with each of its parts. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact, thus paying minute attention to the form. He has here studied the bones as well as the musculature of the human shoulder to enrich his skills in figurative renditions.
