This detailed anatomical sketch by Nandalal depicts a joint between two bones of the human body. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact and hence engaged with such minute attention to the form. He has here studied the structure of bone-joints in the human skeleton to lend authenticity to his figurative renditions.
