In this detailed anatomical sketch, Nandalal depicts the structure of several bones of the human body. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact and hence engaged with such minute attention to the form. He has here studied the contours of the bones of the human skeleton to lend authenticity to his figurative renditions.
