This series of ten sketches in the album depicts the muscular and skeletal structures of human limbs from various angles. In this particular sketch, Nandalal carefully studies the bone structure and the corresponding muscles of the arm to develop a deep understanding of human anatomy. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact and hence engaged with such minute attention to the form.
