In this anatomical sketch, Nandalal has depicted the side view of various muscle groups of the human torso, along with limbs, in intricate detail in fine, rhythmic strokes of the pencil. The artist wanted to synthesise artistic visual expression with scientific fact, thus paying minute attention to the form. He has here delineated each muscle of the human torso to enrich his skills in figurative renditions.
