Architectural Design from Sketch Book No.6 10478 Nandalal Bose Pen and ink on paper

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. He also had a keen fascination for studying the rural architectural traits particular to different regions and also observed the modifications in them with the change in terrains. In the sketch above, he has studied a cow standing under a thatched roof and its walls are traditionally articulated with folk designs. He has rendered this sketch in bold, linear strokes of the pen that suggest the modelling of the forms.
