    Nandalal Bose

Study of Oriental Art - Sketch Book No. 25 11192 Nandalal Bose Pen & ink on Nepali paper

×
Nandalal has here studied and traced the stance of a female figure, probably a princess, as she holds a bunch of lotus flowers in her left hand and in the right, a small bud. As the inscription suggests, this drawing has been reproduced from Ananda Coomaraswamy's book Indian Drawings, in dark and fluid lines in a very controlled manner. The original image has been taken from the walls of the Sigiriya Caves in Sri Lanka.
