In this pen and ink sketch, Nandalal has reproduced two stylised animal motifs, that of a ram and of a tiger. He often made records of the ornamental carvings on historical buildings as Nandalal had a deep appreciation for the rich sculptural and architectural productions of ancient and medieval India and frequently incorporated elements from them into his works.
