Nandalal has here reproduced a floral carving from the Baranagar temple complex built by Rani Bhawani, in Azimganj, in the Murshidabad district of Bengal. He had a deep appreciation for the rich architectural and sculptural traditions of India and often incorporated elements from them into his works.
