In this pencil sketch, Nandalal has reproduced a mosaic from a wall of the Lahore Fort (now Pakistan). He often made records of the ornamental carvings on historical buildings as Nandalal had a deep appreciation for the rich artistic traditions of India and frequently incorporated elements from them in his works.
