Parasnath Hill, 3.6.1943 4809 Nandalal Bose Tempera on paper

×
Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings, animals or anything that he found fascinating. In the above painting Nandalal has sketched a view of Parasnath Hill, with a technique he termed 'touch work', referring to the spontaneous calligraphic strokes that describe the object of the painting. The sublime scenery is delineated with simple strokes of colours to model and add vigour to the composition.
