Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this painting, Nandalal has depicted a village, where a man is sitting under the tree. Rendered with the use of colours in tonal variation, delineating the contours of the forms and adding depth to the composition.
