Nandalal explored a wide range of traditions to arrive at his unique visual language and has left behind a large corpus of works in a wide variety of styles, expressions and techniques. In the above print the artist depicts a group of people sitting and having picnic near the Ajay River. Rendered with sharp, thin lines incised in a copper plate and transferred on the plain surface with the use of black ink. The firm yet fluid stroke suggest the contours of the form and adds depth to the composition.
