Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscape, figure drawings and animals. In this postcard, the fluid, soft strokes of pencil, results in the realistic representation of a fish. He has captured the details in few fine lines of ink emphasizing on its structure and liveliness.
