    Nandalal Bose

Ramchandra and the Sea, 1948 4989 Nandalal Bose Tempera on paper

×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this painting, he has depicted the Lord Rama (referring to the character from epic Ramayana) resting on the sea shore. Rendered with the use of colours in tonal variation, delineating the contours of the figure and adding depth to the composition.
