Nandalal preferred drawing from life, often sketching outdoors with the subject being life, nature studies, landscapes, figure drawings and animals. In the above print the artist depicts a scene of ‘Goalpara village’ (referring to the place in Assam) with trees and hut, rendered with sharp, thin lines incised in a copper plate and transferred on the plain surface with the use of black ink. The fluid fine strokes delineating the form, adds grace to the composition.
