Watercolour on paper
×
Nandalal had a strong affinity for sketching, his subjects being the surrounding environs, people in their everyday life or anything that he found fascinating. In this painting, Nandalal has depicted, ‘Shakuntala’ (referring to the character from epic Mahabharata) caressing a dear in the forest. Rendered with dabs and dashes of watercolour in tonal variation and fluid lines of ink delineating the contours of the figure.
